A specialty of Abadi - a bakery in our hometown of Bandung, bagelen is a bread roll snack with a layer of roomboter (a sweet, high quality, full fat Dutch butter) that has been baked until it’s crunchy (similar to a crouton). It is sweet, buttery, and has a hint of saltiness from the butter. Perfect with a cup of tea or coffee, or even just on its own.
